All You Need Is LUV
I wish I could go back and tell my 10 year old self that I was going to be in a film about the Beatles, playing and singing all my favourite songs... but better than that, I can tell my 29 year old self! I couldn't believe it when I got the call that I was going to be one of the band in Danny Boyle's new film, recording at Abbey Road and playing Wembley Stadium... even now it seems too unreal to have happened and I'm so grateful to the Universe for such a wild opportunity! We filmed over a couple of months and I met some of the coolest people. I wonder what it will be like when it comes out? Which bits will be left in and which bits taken out? We laid down bits of the score through the same amps and desks that the Beatles used, improvising on the same piano that Paul wrote 'Hey Jude' on, crazy days! I hope our new versions of the classics help tell the story...it's so hard to approach a Lennon/McCartney song, what could we possibly bring to it that it doesn't already have? It's almost impossible to imagine a Beatles song with a different arrangement but that was the brief...in the end we just tried to channel the fun we were having playing them and treat them as if they were normal songs and not the sacred pillars of our forefathers that they are... normal songs to be messed around with and changed. We turned it up to 11 basically... Anyways, what a time... thank you everyone at Working Title for having us, 'we're not worthy'!!!
